4 day trek from Lares Valley to Machu Picchu.

The Incan trail to Machu Picchu offers incredible combination of scenery, exposure to the indigenous culture and Machu Picchu. On the trip you will walk through beautiful mountain environments, up high passes and you spend two nights in a traditional Andean town. On the final and fourth day you will be able to see the treasure of Machu Picchu in all of its glory with an experienced guide. This trek is a great alternative to the traditional Incan trail trek, but is a little bit shorter and has a higher altitude.

1st Day: Cusco-Huaca Wasi paso-Lares-Baños Termales-Huacawasi

We depart Cusco at 5:30am towards the small town of Lares in bus. During the trip we will travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incans where you will see incredible scenery, small Andean towns, and archeological sites. Once we arrive at Calca we will take the Huaca Casi pass (4,400m/14,436ft) to the small town of Lares. Here will have time to take a dip in the hot springs (28C-36C degrees) before we eat lunch and continue on our way to Huacawasi where we will find our first campsite.

Transportation time: 4 hours

Time on trail: 3 hours in a cold climate.

Second Day: Huaca Wasi-Abra Sipsay-Patacancha

The second day is the most spectacular day of the trip. After we eat breakfast we will begin walking four hours towards the Sipsay Pass (4,400m/14,436ft), and we will visit the families that live at these incredible altitudes, who survive through agriculture and creating textiles inspired by the Andean Gods. After the visit we will descend to the small town of Patacancha where we will camp for the night.

Time on trail: 7 hours in a cold climate.

3rd day: Patacancha- Willoq-Pumamarca-Ollantaytambo-Aguas Calientes

The third day we will visit the indigenous peoples and towns of the area, such as: Willoq (3,400m, 11,156ft), Pumamarca (3,200m, 10,499ft) and Ollaytantambo (2,850m, 9,350ft). After Ollantaytambo we will board a train to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night in a hotel.

Time on trail: 6 hours.

Fourth Day: Aguas Calientes- Machu Picchu

At 400am in the morning we will begin our descent to the ancient city of Machu Picchu, we will hike for 1hr and 30min and then watch the sunrise from the majestic city upon arrival. At the gate we will show our tickets and then begin a tour of the city for about 2 hours, during which we will visit the main parts of the city. After the tour you will have about an hour of free time to further discover the archeological site. We will then take a bus back to Aguas Calientes where you will board a train back to Ollantaytambo, from where we will transport you back to Cusco. End of tour.
